Meet Moira | First Aid Trainer

Tell us about your career so far!

When I was 15, my dad sent me off to get a first aid certificate and after my first course, I was hooked! It was for this reason that I became a member of the Queensland Ambulance Transport Brigade, where I developed skills in teaching first aid to people as they progressed in their career. After 23 years of dedicated service, I retired, but my love for first aid always remained, and I began taking on casual trainer positions.

Why do you love what you do?

Every day, I help people learn how to cope if the worst were to happen. Despite no longer saving lives directly, I know that I am teaching others how to do so. In my classes, I have had survivors of CPR as well as students who have been involved in a CPR save come back and tell me about it. This gives me meaning for what I do!
