This workshop is relevant for Electricians who may be chosen to act as a competent safety observer where the voltage of electricity does not exceed 1000 AC RMS or 1500 ripple-free DC. This workshop covers how to recognise and respond to an emergency situation and resuscitate a casualty who is unconscious and not breathing effectively.

Section 42 of The Electrical Safety Regulation 2013 requires that a safety observer for energised electrical work has been trained in‚ and is competent to carry out‚ resuscitation on an individual who has stopped breathing or is unconscious because of electric shock within the previous one year. If a safety inspection is undertaken and it is found that staff do not meet the current national standards for training, penalties apply.

Section 28 requires workers who perform or help to perform electrical work to be competent in rescue and resuscitation as determined by recognised industry practices. Completing this workshop annually will help you to meet the requirements of both of these sections of the Regulations.
